TIVA for ECMO and VAD

چکیده
Abstract In recent decades, the use of temporary and permanent mechanical assist devices is on rise for patients with end-stage cardiac failure. These support strategies hold inherently different risks in face noncardiac critical illness require multidisciplinary treatment strategies. The main issues all whether extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) or ventricular device (VAD), are related to thrombosis, anticoagulation, infection, avoiding hypertension thus intravenous drugs, which requires intense monitoring, circumvent further renal, ischemic neurological injury prevent complication.

Using Daily Plasma-Free Hemoglobin Levels for Diagnosis of Critical Pump Thrombus in Patients Undergoing ECMO or VAD Support.
Patients supported with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) or short-term centrifugal ventricular assist devices (VADs) are at risk for potential elevation of plasma-free hemoglobin (pfHb) during treatment. The use of pfHb testing allows detection of subclinical events with avoidance of propagating injury. Among 146 patients undergoing ECMO and VAD from 2009 to 2014, five patients experi...

Since there are very few prospective trials in patients who undergo LVAD placement as bridge to transplantation (BTT) and very little data on the long-term use of MCS as a permanent alternative to heart transplantation (HT), or destination therapy (DT) , most of the patient selection criteria for LVAD therapy, including the criteria for DT published by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid...
متن کاملAdvanced LIVA/TIVA Techniques
LIVA (Light Induced Voltage Alterations) and TIVA (Thermally Induced Voltage Alterations) have demonstrated significant capability for fault isolation. A difficulty with both techniques is their use of a constant current source, whereas integrated circuits operate with a constant voltage source. A new technique that utilizes the constant current sensing of LIVA/TIVA, while allowing for use of c...
متن کاملTotal Intravenous Anesthesia (tiva) for Carcinoid Syndrome
There are three main areas of origin for carcinoid tumors: foregut carcinoid tumours start in the lungs, bronchi, or stomach; midgut carcinoid tumours start in the small intestine, appendix, or proximal large bowel; and hindgut carcinoid tumours start in the distal colon or rectum3. The appendix is the most common site of carcinoid tumors, followed by the rectum, ileum, lungs, bronchi, and stom...
متن کاملUpdate on TIVA.
Mehernoor Watcha, over 10 years ago, wrote an article for Current Opinion entitled ‘Intravenous anaesthesia for paediatric patients’ (1). The main focus of the article was on the agents suitable for intravenous (i.v.) anesthesia and in 10 years only one new drug has been added to the list, remifentanil. Propofol, the main feature of Watcha’s paper, still is not indicated for use in children <3 ...
